Writing weekend in Branäs – snow, forest, pain, and magic! ✨

This weekend has been something truly special.

We were in Branäs on our annual skiing holiday with my partner's family, week 3 as always. Mountains, snow, sparkling trees, crunching underfoot and that special silence that only exists far away from everyday life.

And in the midst of all this... I sat and did the final review of Eternal Desire.

A writing weekend filled with caffeine, blankets, a laptop on my lap, and long gazes out the window at the snow. It has been so incredibly cozy to finish this book right there, surrounded by winter, silence, and family.

But it wasn't until Sunday, when we were packing to go home, that it hit me.

Branäs is located in... Värmland.

Värmland, of all places.

Right where Alice and Jack meet.

Where the cabin is hidden in the forest.

Where it all begins.

It wasn't something I had planned. I hadn't even thought about it. We were there for skiing, not research.

Yet there I sat, in the middle of the same landscape where my story takes place, polishing the very last lines of a story that was born... right here.

Sometimes it feels as if stories find their places themselves.

As if they know where they belong, long before the author does.

However, the weekend has not only been a romantic writer's dream.

On Friday, I suddenly had to chase our dog, who broke free and ran off at full speed. The result?

A hefty blow to my calf.

A torn muscle.

And a writer who spent the rest of the weekend limping between the sofa, the desk, and the view. Plus a couple of short, limping walks outside the cottage.

But maybe it was just what I needed.

To be forced to sit still.

To slow down.

To just... write.

Because despite the pain, it has been one of those weekends I will carry with me for a long time.

The snow glistening in the evening light.

The forest embracing the cottages.

The sound of laughter, ski boots in the hall, and good food.

And somewhere in the middle of it all... a book that is almost ready to face the world.

February 14, 2026.

Eternal Desire is almost finished.

And apparently, it has always known where it wanted to be finished.

It's absolutely fantastic! ✨
